My Path to Sleep Consultancy

Hello, I'm Meredith Brough, and I'm excited to share the intimate details of my personal and professional journey that led me to become a sleep consultant. My path was not straightforward; it was filled with challenges, insights, and profound realizations that have shaped my approach to helping families achieve peaceful sleep.

Mother walking on path

From Nanny to Motherhood: The Roots of My Sleep Passion

My story begins with my background working with children. I've always had a deep connection with little ones, starting as a nanny and eventually running a daycare in my home. But it was my own experience as a mother of five that truly ignited my passion for sleep solutions. My oldest child's sleep struggles were my first encounter with the complexities of infant sleep, and it was a challenge that would change the course of my life.

A Natural Gift Uncovered

When I was pregnant with my second child, I felt overwhelmed by the prospect of facing sleep issues again. However, a book given to me by a friend became my beacon of hope. By applying its principles, I was able to help my second child establish healthy sleep habits early on. This success was a revelation; I realized I had a natural gift for helping children sleep, and I began to use my newfound methods to assist the families in my daycare.

The Leap of Faith: Starting My Sleep Consulting Business

The Twins' Transformation

My journey took a significant turn when I decided to help a woman from my church with her twins' sleep troubles. The transformation I facilitated not only improved the twins' sleep patterns but also had a profound impact on the mother's well-being. This experience was a pivotal moment, making me realize the significant impact of sleep on families and inspiring me to start my own sleep consulting business.

Embracing Intuition and Connection

In the early stages of my business, I faced numerous challenges, particularly in understanding the role of a child's temperament in their sleep behavior. I felt isolated, with few resources to guide me, which led me to rely heavily on my intuition and determination to find solutions for my clients. Despite the difficulties, I found immense joy in mentoring and supporting mothers, helping them feel confident and empowered.

A Breakthrough in Sleep Coaching

Influencer Collaboration and Challenging Cases

My business experienced a breakthrough when I connected with a prominent influencer who sought my help with her child's sleep issues. This collaboration led to a significant increase in clients and exposed me to more challenging cases. I learned directly from parents about their children's unique personalities and challenges, which further refined my approach to sleep coaching.

Addressing the Needs of Sensitive and Spirited Children

I quickly recognized the lack of resources for understanding and addressing the needs of highly sensitive and spirited children. I emphasized the importance of creating peaceful and loving methods that prioritize connection and responsiveness, especially for children who may get distressed easily. Developing methods to help spirited babies and toddlers calm down and fall asleep was an emotional and spiritual journey for me.

Evolving Perspectives on Infant Sleep

Shifting Away from Crying Methods

As I delved deeper into my practice, I realized that traditional expectations of infant sleep progression and behavior did not apply to all children. This led me to shift away from crying methods and focus on baby-centered sleep solutions that prioritize the child's needs. I became passionate about educating parents on the different temperaments of babies and the importance of understanding and supporting their unique sleep patterns and behaviors.

Teaching and Mentoring Others

My love for instructing and mentoring blossomed as I began teaching my methods to mothers, sleep consultants, and newborn care specialists. The joy I find in helping others understand and implement baby-centered sleep solutions is immeasurable.

Building a Community of Support

The Creation of a Mastermind Group

The expansion of my program led to the establishment of a mastermind group for my graduates and sleep consultants from other programs. I believe in the importance of providing ongoing support and mentorship to help my students grow and become confident in their approach to sleep coaching.

The Heart of Responsive Parenting

Understanding Normal Crying and Communication

In the latter part of my journey, I've gained insights on responsive parenting and the significance of understanding normal crying and communication in infants and toddlers. It's crucial for mothers to feel supported and empowered in their parenting journey, especially when addressing challenging sleep issues.

Conclusion: A Testament to Empathy and Intuition

My passion for my work and my dedication to changing the way the world approaches sleep training are at the core of everything I do. I encourage collaboration, support, and a focus on what truly matters in helping children thrive. My journey is a testament to the power of following one's heart and intuition in making a positive impact on the lives of families.

Thank you for joining me on this incredible journey. I hope my story inspires you to listen to your intuition, connect deeply with your children, and find the sleep solutions that work best for your family.

Hello! It's nice to meet you. I'm Meredith Brough.

I am a mother of 5, wife of 27 years, and grandma to a precious little boy. During my down time, you'll find me hanging out with my husband and teenage children (outdoors when weather permits), cooking, and watching Netflix. :)

I offer support to sleep coaches and consultants, assisting them in cultivating confidence, building thriving businesses, and solving complex cases.

I educate women so they can provide guidance to mothers on optimizing sleep for their babies and toddlers, using my Baby-Centered™ Sleep methods and tailored solutions.

Lastly, I help mothers create a life of peace, presence and alignment by helping them sleep well, fine-tune their intuition, and elevate their confidence.
