Featuring Meredith Brough, Baby-Centered™ Sleep Expert, Instructor, & Coach for Sleep Consultants.
“It's really incredible to get to know them and then to see the transformation that they can achieve and how happy it makes mom, baby, toddler, the husband or partner.”
- Kayla Squier
Hello, fellow sleep enthusiasts and weary parents! I'm Meredith Brough, your guide to all things slumber on the Sweet Slumber podcast. As a sleep consultant and educator, I've had the pleasure of diving deep into the world of restful nights and peaceful naps. Today, I'm thrilled to share with you a transformative conversation I had with the remarkable Kayla Squire, a registered nurse turned sleep consultant extraordinaire.
Kayla's path to becoming a sleep consultant was as challenging as it was rewarding. As a new mom during the pandemic, she faced the all-too-familiar struggle of helping her son find his way to better sleep. Her nursing background and innate problem-solving skills led her to develop sleep shaping strategies that proved successful for her little one. This personal victory sparked the creation of Serenity Sleep Consulting, where she now helps other families achieve the same success.
Kayla's business growth brought new challenges, leading her to seek further education and mentorship. That's where our paths crossed, and she pursued a third certification in sleep consulting. Through our collaboration, Kayla gained a fresh perspective on empowering mothers and trusting their intuition. This approach not only benefited her clients but also strengthened her advocacy for her son, who was later diagnosed with autism.
Our discussion highlighted the emotional and personal growth that comes with being a sleep consultant. Kayla and I both share a deep sense of purpose in our work, feeling that the methods and solutions we offer are gifts meant to be shared with others. This sense of mission has been a guiding light in our careers, helping us connect with and support countless families.
One of the most profound insights from our conversation was the importance of building confidence in mothers. Kayla's approach to sleep consulting goes beyond the technical aspects; it's about tuning into a mother's intuition and helping her understand her child's needs. This philosophy has led to transformative experiences for both the families she works with and herself as a mother.
Kayla's love for education shines through in her work. She believes in educating parents about wake windows, overall sleep needs, and the impact of nutrition on sleep. Her approach is holistic, considering all aspects of a child's well-being. The resources and tools I provided in my course, which Kayla found invaluable, are designed to address these multifaceted needs.
We delved into the significance of understanding a child's temperament and the power of a well-crafted bedtime routine. Kayla shared how my course influenced her to incorporate more preliminary work with spirited or sensitive children, ensuring a tailored approach that respects each child's unique disposition.
Kayla's passion for working with newborns is evident. She believes that by setting a solid foundation for sleep from day one, many sleep issues can be avoided altogether. Her enthusiasm for this preventative approach is contagious, and her success stories are a testament to its effectiveness.
Kayla also shared her marketing wisdom, emphasizing the importance of focusing on a specific platform that aligns with one's passion. She advises against spreading oneself too thin and recommends committing to a chosen platform for at least six months before exploring other avenues.
Lastly, Kayla introduced her new passion project, Dream Jar Travels, aimed at empowering parents of autistic and special needs children to travel and create lasting memories. Her dedication to this cause is inspiring, and I encourage everyone to follow her journey and support this wonderful initiative.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kayla for sharing her journey and insights with us. Her experiences and advice are invaluable to anyone in the parenting and sleep consulting space. If you've enjoyed this conversation, please leave a review and subscribe to the Sweet Slumber podcast for more enlightening discussions.

I am a mother of 5, wife of 27 years, and grandma to a precious little boy. During my down time, you'll find me hanging out with my husband and teenage children (outdoors when weather permits), cooking, and watching Netflix. :)
I offer support to sleep coaches and consultants, assisting them in cultivating confidence, building thriving businesses, and solving complex cases.
I educate women so they can provide guidance to mothers on optimizing sleep for their babies and toddlers, using my Baby-Centered™ Sleep methods and tailored solutions.
Lastly, I help mothers create a life of peace, presence and alignment by helping them sleep well, fine-tune their intuition, and elevate their confidence.
